The aim of the expert group is to promote theoretical exchange between teachers, researchers and practitioners, to sharpen the significance of the concepts of diversity and intersectionality for social work science in theory, research and practice and to develop them further together in various formats.
The title “Diversity and Intersectionality” emphasizes a critical examination of powerful orders of difference and refers to social emancipatory movements that aim to bring about social change with the goal of social justice and equal opportunities. The specialist group deals with a cross-sectional topic in social work and discusses the need for an independent field of action. It is concerned with the practical application of diversity theories and intersectionality approaches across all fields of action, the examination and further development of action concepts, action methods and action skills as well as the analysis of social conditions in social work contexts.
