This Expert Committee for is devoted to examining current developments in community work and updating the core concepts and methods of community work. It also addresses the teaching of these concepts and methods in higher education and continuing professional development. In addition, the Expert Committee is interested in theoretical and empirical examinations of the current socio-political context of community work. The Expert Committee´s work is project-oriented, using scholarly dialogue and collaborative analysis with the goal of producing concrete, publishable results.
The DGSA’s Expert Committee for Community Work was established in 2004. It currently has twenty-five active members, all of whom teach and/or research at universities in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Some of these members also work as practitioners “in the field”. The Expert Committee meets twice a year. New members are very welcome and will be admitted after participating in a section meeting and indicating that they are willing to participate actively.
